What are escitalopram tablets?
ESCITALOPRAM (Lexapro.) is a medicine for depression and other related problems. You may have to take escitalopram for up to 4 weeks or longer before you begin to feel better.
What should I tell my health care provider before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
- diabetes
- heart disease
- kidney disease
- liver disease
- mania
- receive electroconvulsive therapy
- seizures (convulsions)
- suicidal thoughts or previous suicidal attempts
- an unusual or allergic reaction to escitalopram, the related drug citalopram, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
- pregnant or trying to become pregnant
- breast-feeding
How should I take this medicine?
Take escitalopram tablets by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow the tablets with a drink of water. Escitalopram can be taken with or without food. Ifescitalopram upsets your stomach,taking it with food may help. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not stop taking except on your prescriber or health care professional's advice.
What if I miss a dose?
If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses. Follow your prescriber or health care professional's advice on missed doses.
Where can I keep my medicine?
Keep out of reach of children in a container that small children cannot open.
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
